8D Effect
🎧 8D Audio
Put your headphones on — the 8D effect only works in stereo.
Depth
Reverb 0%
Switch on 8D Audio and the track starts rotating slowly from ear to ear. Add a touch of reverb to widen the room and the movement feels much bigger. Preview as much as you like, then send it to the Audio Studio to export.

KeyPitch is a browser-based 8D audio maker — nothing to download and nothing to install. Switch the 8D effect on, add reverb to taste, and the song starts spinning around your head in real time. Open the Audio Studio to go further: change the key or pitch, slow the track down, boost the bass, then export your 8D version as MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4. Free to preview, headphones strongly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about 8D audio and how to make your own.

What is 8D audio?

8D audio is a stereo effect that makes a song feel like it is moving around your head. The track is slowly panned from the left ear to the right ear and back, usually with reverb added, so your brain hears it as a sound source circling you. It is not a special file format — it is a normal stereo MP3 or WAV with that movement baked in.

How do I make 8D audio online for free?

Upload your MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4 here, switch on the 8D Audio toggle and put your headphones on. Add reverb if you want more space, listen to the preview, then click Download — your file opens in the KeyPitch Audio Studio where you can export it as MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4.

Do I need headphones to hear 8D audio?

Yes, or at least a proper stereo setup. The effect relies on the difference between what your left and right ears hear. On headphones or earbuds the rotation is obvious; on a phone speaker or a mono Bluetooth speaker there is only one channel, so you will barely notice it.

Is 8D audio really 8D?

No, and nobody claims it seriously. 8D is a marketing name that spread on YouTube. Technically it is stereo panning plus reverb — closer to a binaural or rotating-pan effect than to any eight-dimensional format. The name stuck because the result genuinely feels three-dimensional in headphones.

What is the difference between 8D, 9D and 16D audio?

Nothing technical. 8D, 9D, 16D and even 1000D are names creators invented for the same trick: automated stereo panning with reverb, sometimes with extra bass. A higher number does not mean more channels or better quality — it is just a stronger or more heavily processed version of the same effect.

Is 8D audio safe for your ears and your headphones?

It is as safe as any music played at the same volume. 8D audio does not damage headphones and does not harm your hearing at sensible levels. Because the sound moves, some listeners turn it up more than usual — keep the volume where you normally would. A few people find the constant motion slightly dizzying; if that happens, take a break.

Can I make 8D audio from a YouTube song?

Not directly from a YouTube link. Use your own copy of the track, upload it here and switch the 8D effect on. If you want to change how a YouTube video sounds while it plays, the free KeyPitch Chrome extension gives you live pitch and speed control on YouTube.

Does 8D audio work on speakers?

Only partly. On a good pair of stereo speakers, sitting between them, you will hear the sound sliding from left to right. But the around-your-head illusion needs the channel separation that only headphones provide, so speakers always sound flatter.

Why does 8D audio sound like it is moving around my head?

Because your brain locates sound by comparing what each ear receives. When a track slowly fades from the left channel to the right and back, and reverb adds the reflections you would hear in a real room, your brain interprets it as a source physically travelling around you.

Can I add reverb to my 8D track?

Yes. The Reverb slider on this page adds room and depth on top of the rotation, and that is exactly what gives commercial 8D edits their spacious sound. A little goes a long way — try 20 to 40 % first. In the Audio Studio you can push it further or combine it with bass boost.

Which file formats can I convert to 8D?

MP3, WAV, M4A and MP4, up to 50 MB and 10 minutes. If you upload an MP4 the picture is kept and only the audio is turned into 8D, so you can download a complete video with the 8D sound.

Is the KeyPitch 8D audio maker free?

Uploading a song, switching on 8D, adding reverb and previewing the result is completely free and needs no account. You only pay when you export the finished file from the Audio Studio — per export, as a discounted pack of exports, or with a subscription for unlimited exports.

How do I make 8D audio on my phone?

Exactly the same way — this page works in a mobile browser. Open it on your phone, upload a track from your files, plug in headphones or connect earbuds, switch on 8D Audio and preview. There is no app to install on iPhone or Android.

Can I use 8D audio in my own videos, on TikTok or Instagram?

Yes, as long as you hold the rights to the music you are processing. Export your 8D version and drop it into your edit. Keep in mind that most people watch social video on a phone speaker, so tell your viewers to put headphones on.

Will making a song 8D reduce its audio quality?

No. The effect is stereo panning plus reverb, so nothing is stripped out of the track. Your export keeps the format you uploaded — MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4 — so a WAV stays lossless and an MP4 keeps its video. As always, starting from a good-quality source gives the best result.

What else can I do with my track in the Audio Studio?

After the 8D effect you can change the key by up to ±12 semitones, fine-tune the pitch in Hz, speed the song up or slow it down, add more reverb, boost the bass, or remove the vocals with AI to make a karaoke version. Preview everything free, then export as MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4.
